Building History & Pictures
Our salon was purchased in 2014. It was originally built in 1951 as a horse farm with a barn that housed seven stalls for the horses. The barn is still standing but not operational. It also had riding stables with lights for nighttime use. Very cool property and one of the first in this location on Long Run Road.
The house had several owners prior to our purchase. It had been extremely neglected for about 10 years prior to our takeover. All of the plumbing was leaking, water pump did not work, entire electrical system had to be replaced, major interior construction of walls. We also needed to make the salon and parking area handicap compliant. Lots of work went into the building.
In addition, we had to clear the entire front area and install a parking lot.
If you notice to the right hand of the salon is a second building. This was originally used by the owner to fix major appliances, like toasters and vacuum cleaners (when this stuff was fixable).
Interesting note. The gentleman who originally built the house ran the repair shop next-door. It was a really neat building with black-and-white checkerboard flooring and old 1950s fluorescent lights. When you opened the door to the shop, a buzzer rang inside the house so he can come over and service you. Pretty cool
This second building is now a storage area for the salon.
